CitiGreen Eco-D Tracker

CitiGreen has been allocating resources to the ongoing development of  the CitiGreen Smart Eco-Tracker solar tracking system. This is a tilted single axis tracker under research and development uniquely designed for environmentally sensitive areas like the Mojave desert and Pacific Islands. The unique feature of the CitiGreen Eco-I (Island model) is that the system is tied into our CitiWatch monitoring system making it able to sense cloud cover and systematically shut down the inverters to prevent sudden shocks to the electrical grid, thereby allowing the grid to absorb the sudden loss of electricity in a systematic manner. Additionally, the tracker allows electricity production in sensitive areas without disturbing the underlying land, as it sits on top of the ground and requires little or no land clearing.

The Eco-D is specifically designed for desert environments, while the Eco-I is designed for island environments.

The system generates electricity to power the petroleum distributor’s central valley headquarters. When the solar array generates more electricity than Van de Pol needs, it exports the electricity back to the grid, causing Van de Pol’s meter to run backward. Van de Pol uses approximately 240,000 kilowatts annually to operate their office buildings.
